Sunrise Smart Light

A friend asked me how easy would it be to make their existing smart bulb turn on with the sunrise. I told them it would be much easier to make your own sunrise light - and so I gave myself the challenge.

Using just a WIFI connection, provided location, and some calculations, this IoT device calculates the apparent sunrise time and animates LEDs through a warm palate of morning colors.

This device is able to calculate the local sunrise time each day using the Dusk2Dawn Arduino library, and an internet connection to sync time with NTP servers. All you need is an ESP-12E(8266) or NodeMCU and some LEDs to make one yourself.

The Arduino sketch, build materials, printable .stl files and recommended settings are available on my GitHub.
