1/70th Scale Apollo Saturn Launch Gantry

Taking a 3D model from a file to finished product takes some time, but seeing this replica sitting next to a Saturn V model rocket made it all worthwhile. From these designs we were able to build and film the project for Hohman Design’s YouTube channel.

Each of the gantry levels, elevator shafts, stairs, rotating arms, handrails, and the crane needed to split off separately to be prepared for printing. I joined 3D Central in using Blender to create the library of parts for a number of 3D printers to create.

With a deadline a finite distance away, managing the inventory of parts required, and the cleaning of prints, we made an awesome contribution to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission.
